SINGLES OP 45-RPM
Wij zijn enthousiast van start gegaan in juni 2026. Ons oogmerk is om de luisteraar te verwennen met muziek uit de jaren 60, 70 en 80. Natuurlijk zijn er (heel) veel internetradiostations met dezelfde intentie. Zijn wij dan zoveel anders? Wellicht niet op het “eerste gehoor”, maar we zijn nu nog in een experimentele fase. De bedoeling is om meer onbekend single-materiaal te laten horen, met ook aandacht voor de vaak ondergewaardeerde “B-kantjes”.
SCHELLAK OP 78-RPM
In ons logo zie je ook de opmerking 78-rpm*, ofwel 78-toerenplaten. Het is ons voornemen om ook die “antieke” platen te laten horen op Radio Middengolf. Het gaat dan om repertoire uit de jaren 20, 30, 40 en 50. Om zowel popmuziek (op vinyl) als nostalgische muziek op originele 78-platen op één en dezelfde radiostream te combineren, is een uniek concept. Het zal de luisteraar duidelijk zijn dat deze muzikale stromingen niet met elkaar verenigbaar zijn. Dus de 78-toerenplaten zullen in aparte programma’s te horen zijn en op vaste tijden.
KLASSIEK NON-STOP
En om het helemaal bont te maken, is er ook het voornemen om bijvoorbeeld op de zondag, een paar uur in de ochtend (non-stop) klassieke muziek te laten horen. Ook deze invalshoek wijkt vanzelfsprekend volkomen af van hetgeen anno 2026 gangbaar is. Maar wanneer we verder teruggaan in de tijd, was dat over het algemeen zeer gebruikelijk. Van kerkdiensten, ochtendgymnastiek, hoorspelen, lichte muziek alsmede klassieke muziek; het was destijds allemaal terug te vinden op één en dezelfde zender. Dat was de typische sfeer van de “middengolf”. Pas met de zendschepen kwam daarin enige verandering, hoewel Veronica zich de eerste jaren ook presenteerde met een rijk palet aan verstrooiende programma's van soms amper een kwartiertje.
MIDDENGOLF-FREQUENTIE
Dus dit is een experiment, met in de testfase vooral popmuziek. Ook live-uitzendingen maken deel uit van de programma-opzet. En wanneer jij je afvraagt: Waar is de middengolffrequentie? Dan is het antwoord hierop simpel en wellicht voor sommigen teleurstellend. Die middengolffrequentie, … die is er niet. Misschien ooit; het zou vanzelfsprekend nog wat authentieker aandoen, maar hier is zoals gewoonlijk het kostenaspect de doorslaggevende factor.
GOLVEN VAN NOSTALGIE
Kortom, een gedurfd experiment in de reeds zeer uitgestrekte wereld van internetradio. Geleidelijk aan krijgt dit concept de vorm die we voor ogen hebben. Het spreekt voor zich dat je nu reeds van harte welkom bent. Dus laat je onderdompelen door de golven van nostalgie en stem af op Radio Middengolf.

45-RPM SINGLES:
We launched enthusiastically in June 2026. Our aim is to treat listeners to music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Of course, there are (very) many internet radio stations with the same intention. So, are we really that different? Perhaps not at "first listen," but we are currently still in an experimental phase. The plan is to showcase more obscure singles, while also paying attention to those often-underrated "B-sides."
78-RPM SHELLAC RECORDS:
You will also notice a reference to "78-rpm"—or 78-rpm records—in our logo. We intend to play these "antique" records on Radio Middengolf as well, featuring repertoire from the 1920s, 30s, 40s, and 50s. Combining pop music (on vinyl) with nostalgic music from original 78-rpm records on a single radio stream is a unique concept. It will be clear to the listener that these musical styles do not naturally mix; therefore, the 78-rpm records will be featured in dedicated programs at scheduled times.
NON-STOP CLASSICAL MUSIC:
And to top it all off, we also plan to broadcast classical music—non-stop—for a few hours on Sunday mornings. Naturally, this approach differs completely from what is customary in 2026. However, if we look further back in time, such programming was generally very common—ranging from church services, morning calisthenics, and radio dramas to light music and classical music. Back then, it could all be found on a single station. That was the quintessential atmosphere of "medium wave" radio. Things only began to change with the arrival of the offshore radio ships—though even in its early years, Veronica presented a rich variety of entertaining programs, some lasting barely fifteen minutes.
MEDIUM WAVE FREQUENCY:
So, this is an experiment, featuring primarily pop music during the testing phase. Live broadcasts are also part of the programming lineup. And if you’re wondering, "Where is the medium wave frequency?" the answer is simple—and perhaps disappointing to some. That medium wave frequency... simply doesn't exist. Maybe someday; it would naturally feel a bit more authentic, but as always, cost is the deciding factor here.
WAVES OF NOSTALGIA:
In short, it is a bold experiment within the already vast world of internet radio. The concept is gradually taking the shape we envisioned. Naturally, you are already more than welcome to join us. So, let yourself be immersed in waves of nostalgia and tune in to Radio Middengolf.
